This weekend we switch to Daylight Savings Time, so don't forget to move your clocks forward one hour before you go to bed Saturday night. Even though the first day of Spring is March 20th, it's important to resist the urge to start planting here in Colorado.
The weekend forecast looks to be mild and warmer here in Chaffee County. Before long bulbs will start to peek out of the ground. If you are itching to get outside in the dirt, there are still plenty of tasks you can do to get ready for the planting season. Here are some landscaping tasks - both indoors and outdoors - you can do this month:
Blade sharpening for tools and mowers
Mower tune-up
Schedule weed control service for spring pre-emergent application
Plan spring clean-up
Plan any hardscaping or landscape renovations
Winter water on days over 40 degrees
Keep in mind that March is historically Colorado's snowiest month. Don't let the warm days fool you into thinking you can start planting. Get your plans in place, then wait until the threat of frost has passed.
